Archana Fernando has contributed a new article to the operative surgery section. The topic covered is Incision and Drainage of Abscesses.
It has been really great to see people contributing comments to the articles and sharing their thoughts and experiences. I think it really adds to the value of the content. Thank you for your contributions and please keep doing so.

An apology. I have been undertaking some upgrades and maintenance procedures on the site and this has effected registration over the past 14 days. Either the registration process failed completely or email verification didn't work. It is now hopefully fixed. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Please note that there is still an ongoing problem with Hotmail, in that very little email gets through to them unless you have their paid for Hotmail live account. There seems to be nothing I can do about this. My suggestion I'm afraid has to be to move to a decent email provider. Gmai l works well and is also free. Additionally Gmail can be set up to allow email retrieval from any email client like Thunder bird . Give it a go.

The 18th century French surgeon Jacques Lisfranc de St Martin has been added to the history of surgeons section. I hope these little tid bits of surgical history are of interest. Thank you to Adam Sykes for writing this contribution.

There has been an anouncemnent that there will be quite an increase in the fees payable to PMETB.from April 1st 2008. For specialist registrars the CCT fee is now going to be £780 and for non-training grades entering the specialist register via article 11 & 14 it will be £1,850. Looking at the date of implementation you might be forgiven for thinking this was an early april fools joke. I would still like to know what this fee is for!
