There has been an anouncemnent that there will be quite an increase in the fees payable to PMETB.from April 1st 2008. For specialist registrars the CCT fee is now going to be £780 and for non-training grades entering the specialist register via article 11 & 14 it will be £1,850. Looking at the date of implementation you might be forgiven for thinking this was an early april fools joke. I would still like to know what this fee is for!

"I am writing to alert you to the forthcoming changes to PMETB's fees structure and to request that you make the necessary arrangements to inform applicants of increases to CCT, CEGPR (article 11) and CESR (article 14) fees.

Following the completion of the PMETB fees consultation and subject to approval from the Department of Health and Parliament, the CCT fee will be £780 and the article 11 and 14 Assessments will be £1,850, both of these fees are expected to be effective from 1st April, 2008.

I will be sending out amended CCT application forms as soon as approval has been received (unfortunately due parliamentary process takes time and this is likely to mean the forms will not be available until pretty close to the 1st April). For article 11& 14 the forms will be amended on the website. In the mean time if you could please inform your CCT applicants that any application received by PMETB on or after the 1st April, 2008 will be subject to the new fee. Until the new forms are available applicants will have to use the current forms, but as indicated please make them aware of the fee change. You may wish to refer them to the FAQs that I have written in conjunction with the communications team which will be listed on the web site next week.

There are other changes which have been made to the fees structure, in the light of European Directive, and increases made to existing fees in line with RPI. Full details will be posted on the PMETB website in due course.

Thank you very much for your assistance, if you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact me.

Regards
